1945 Ho Chi Minh creates a provisional government
When Japan surrendered to allied forces Ho Chi Minh created the National Liberation Committee.
1945 British forces land in Saigon and return the lead to the French
1946 French recognizes Vietnam as a free state
1946 French IndoChina war begins when the Democratic Republic of Vietnam launches an attack on Vietnam
1950 China and Russia offer weapons to Vietminh
1950 The United States of America agrees to give France $15 million to help the French troops in the IndoChina war with military advisors and military aid
1953 France gives Laos full independence
1954 The battle of Dien Bien Phu begins and the French troops were heavily defeated
1954 Geneva Convention begins
1954 Geneva convention Accords Agreement- General Ta Quang Buu and Henri Delteli sign the agreement to stop all hostilities in Vietnam. According to the agreement, the country is divided into two separate parts on the 17th parallel.
1956 Dien becomes president of Republic of Vietnam
1956 The United States decides to train the South Vietnamese troops
1959 Weapons move along the Ho Chi Minh trail
