TET OFFENSE
Tet is a holiday celebrated in Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia; the New Year Lunar holiday. On January 31st, 1968 Viet Cong forces launched a series of attacks called the "tet offense". National Liberation Front and North Vietnamese forces launched a huge attack on the Vietnamese New Year (Tet), which was defeated after a month of fighting and many thousands of casualties; major defeat for communism, but Americans reacted sharply, with declining approval of LBJ and more anti-war sentiment.
The Tet offense was one major key battle in the Vietnam War.
